Call of Duty: Black Ops Multiplayer Reveal Event!

So I was lucky enough to be invited to the Call of Duty: Black Ops Multiplayer Event that took place this last September 1st at the California Science Center, which included not only a presentation of Black Ops projected on an IMAX screen but some quality hands on time with the MP modes!

Enjoy new modes such as the all-new Wager Match, where you can bet your CoD money on how you’ll finish…but you only win if you finish in the top 3.

The modes in Wager Match are:

*One Bullet, One Chamber: You only get ONE bullet at a time and your bullet is only replenished either after you kill someone (either by knife or bullet or you respawn), so you better make that shot count.

*Sticks and Stones: fighting only with crossbows, ballistic knife, and tomahawk. The bonus here is that if you get hit with a tomahawk, you’re instantly bankrupted.

*Gun Game: your weapons improve with each kill but if you’re killed by a knife, you’re out.

*Sharpshooter: your weapons switch every 30 seconds (this was a hard one but SUPER fun!)

There’s also a new mode called “Combat Training”, which can be played alone or with friends to practice maps, tactics, try out weapons, and play with AI. Why is this here? Well, it’s for people like yours truly who LOATHE playing MP mode because as we ALL know, newbs always get singled out and killed before we can even get a feel for the game and therefore remain in SinglePlayerModeLand.

Combat Training allows you to get your footing in a multiplayer situation before actually joining a session. It’s a baby steps kind of way to get the Single Players to swim in the MP side of the pool. You can also invite a friend to play with you and the bots! Neat!

Multiplayer design director David Vonderhaar said that “We created the mode after we found out that some 30-40% of people who player single-player, never play multiplayer. Combat training is a complete stand alone experience with an independent ranking system. You can play it alone or with friends, you can use it to practise maps, or certain weapons or advanced tactics, and when you’re ready you can enter a player match and test your skills against real opponents. It’s our goal to introduce multiplayer to an entirely new audience who we feel are missing out.”

Check out the video with features face time with friend and Treyarch Community Manager, Josh Olin, as well as Charlie Saxton (Damon Drucker, HBO’s “Hung”)! w00t!

Best part? Black Ops will be available for Xbox, PS3, PC and…wait for it…WII!

November 9th…couple more months, darlings, and I CAN HARDLY WAIT!

Bots? I think that's pretty sick! I can also see this as a nice alternative to switching to the campaign because you're having a bad night in multiplayer. I'm a little excited :D
