When it comes to the Collector’s Edition of Starcraft II: Wings of Liberty, Blizzard makes spending the extra $40 tempting. Some of you may be hesitant on buying CE’s of any game just because the extra “goodies” might not be worth it, and that’s why we’re going to take a look inside the box to see just how incredible this collector’s edition is.
The basic copy of Starcraft II is going to cost you $59.99, and that comes with just the game. The Collector’s Edition is $99.99 but comes loaded with tons of treasure. Here, take a look:
-The Art of StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty, a 176-page book featuring artwork from the game.
-An exclusive 2GB USB flash drive replica of Jim Raynor’s dog tag, which comes preloaded with the original StarCraft and the StarCraft: Brood War expansion set.
-A behind-the-scenes DVD containing nearly 2 hours of developer interviews, cinematics with director’s commentary and more.
-The official StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty soundtrack CD, containing 14 epic tracks from the game along with exclusive bonus tracks.
- StarCraft comic book issue #0, a prequel to the comic series.
- A World of Warcraft mini Thor in-game pet that can be applied to all World of Warcraft characters on a single Battle.net account.
- Exclusive Battle.net downloadable content, including special portraits for your Battle.net profile, decals to customize your units in-game, and a visually unique version of the Terran Thor unit.
Personally, I’m a huge fan of the dog tag USB. Not only does it look amazing, comes pre-loaded with the original Starcraft AND the expansion set, but it even lights up! Not to mention, the beautiful case is just another reason to add to the list of why you should buy it.
“We’ve been looking forward to revisiting the StarCraft universe with our players for over 10 years, and we wanted to offer an epic collector’s edition that commemorated the occasion,” said Mike Morhaime, CEO and Co-founder of Blizzard Entertainment. “This special version of StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty — easily our biggest collector’s edition to date — does just that, and we think StarCraft II gamers will really enjoy all of the exclusive contents.
Gotta agree with Mike, it is easily the biggest collector’s edition to date… and heaviest!
Want it? You can find them at your nearest GameStop, but good luck finding one – these sold out fast. Or if you want to just stick with the basic copy, you can pick it up through digital download !

Yeah, I noticed they made Jim's face softer and younger looking on the ad. Wonder why? The older, tougher one looked better, I thought. How's the game so far, Em?
The art book is well worth the money it's really nicely made as well as the sweet ass dog tag/flash drive, dude it's made of metal! Oh and the DVD is actually over 2 hours not 1.
This was easily worth my 100$ :D
changed! thanks for the heads up, Karmacode!
