On Thursday, an amended complaint filed by Infinity Ward Employee Group has exposed new details on the battle between Activision and the studio.
Activision’s CEO Bobby Kotick had allegedly promised the group that they would be paid in full for their work on Modern Warfare 2. In his words, “nothing will change.”
However, that quote was less than true.
Further complaints stated that “despite Bobby Kotick’s oral statements to the employees of Infinity Ward to the contrary, Activision made a tactical and calculated decision to withhold $54 million of earned and vested bonus compensation from the Infinity Ward employees…At the same time, Activision breached its prior written promise that Modern Warfare 3 would not be the next game to be developed, produced, and delivered by Infinity Ward.”
Later in April, complaints began to surface that Activision’s COO, Thomas Tippl, responded to the demands to get paid by telling said employees to “get over it.”
Sweet guy, isn’t he?
Several Infinity Ward employees said they would have not left the Studio if Activision didn’t fire West and Zampella, received their bonuses and been told the truth about what game was next in development following Modern Warfare 2.
Both the lawsuits against West and Zampella, as well as the Infinity Ward Employee Group against Activision have been set for May 23, 2011.
