Every month, somewhere around 11 million gamers subscribe to playing World of Warcraft and at $15 a subscription, it equals out to $165,000,000 million dollars a month. Impressive, isn’t it? Yet Blizzard doesn’t seem to be satisified because now they’re starting to charge even more for WoW related features.
Blizzard announced they would offer beta testing for players to try out the World of Warcraft Remote for free; which allows players to keep track of their auctions through web browsers and iPhone apps. When released (to the tune of $3 a month), you’ll be able to stay on top of the game with the Mobile Armory whether you’re in game or in the real world.
Once out of beta, gamers will continue to be able to use some of the features for free such as browsing auctions, receiving notifications of when auctions are closed or when players outbid them and viewing character information. In order to keep the whole package of being able to buy, bid, sell, collect gold, re-listing and canceling items will be strictly for subscribers ONLY.
For all the details on which servers are running the World of Warcraft Remote beta can be found on Blizzard’s official forums
Not only will the upcoming release of Starcraft 2 sky rocket Blizzard’s numbers but the additional $3 per subscriber will certainly bring in a few extra million in profit.
