Destructoid Reveals vDtoid

Always keeping the standards high, Destructoid launched its beta version of Video.Destructoid (vDtoid) Monday, March 08, 2010. Keeping up the fast pace, the site is looking to come out of beta and into the full blown version within the next two months.

The web design and concept is slick, simple, and easy to use.

It was designed with the user in mind, working intuitively to meet the needs of their viewers. Early on, the Destructoid team realized that many people out there looking for news wanted it quickly and with minimum searching. Users wanted to take 5-10 minutes to browse, watch, and leave.

So they created Video.Destructoid with an uncluttered design that incorporates the simple up and down scrolling and a system to prevent constant searching, waiting, and page jumping.

The site also helps to bring focus to games by the simplicity of it. Informing gamers of all types about new releases and allowing them an easier way to view other genres that they otherwise may not have had an interest in. An example would be an RPG gamer noticing the detailed graphics and easy handling of a racing game that may encourage them to give it a go.

With the beta launch and the upcoming full release, Destructoid’s Editor-in-Chief of Video, R3y Guti3rr3z is looking to include additional features, such as HD and a comment section, as well as evolving the site to include V-blogs (video blogs) from not just their staff, but from their dedicated members.

Starring in their beta launch is the video review for God of War III. Destructoid was looking for a rockstar game for a rockstar launch and they found it. Within seconds of the video going live, the links for the new site were being messaged all over twitter by many – including Sony.

R3y Guti3rr3z has headed up this project and had this to say about the successful creation and launch of vDtoid:
