Welcome to the world of fantasy, fun and frustration. You may also know them as MMO’s. They’ll get you hooked for hours on end effortlessly. While feeding my current addiction I realized how much stress these games cause me. Thus the list of the most annoying MMO moments was born.
1. Random afk’s
After searching for hours to achieve a full party of 6 everyone meets up, and just before you start the instance you hear, “afk” . Personally, I don’t mind if someone needs to take a bathroom break, but what gets me is those 3 letter words like “afk” and “brb” could mean 5,10 or even a 30 minute wait. Do your group a favor, and join our party if you are just going to go away to eat dinner and make us all wait on your mashed potatoes and gravy.
2. Auction House Undercutters
After putting the effort into making delicious Mana and HP potions seeing my already low prices freshly undercut is rather annoying. So then I put my prices even lower, and guess what – the same guy undercuts me again! Seriously, do you have nothing better to do but sit here and refresh the prices at the auction house all day? It soon turns out to be a battle of who is willing to go the lowest on their items which in return makes the profit no where near what it should have been in the first place. Thanks a lot, n00b.
3. Elitest Players
This same rule applies to other games like Counter Strike and Call of Duty. You get those people who are absolutely obsessed with the game and play 8+ hours a day. Equipped in godly gear from head to toe they’ll pounce you from no where and kill you just to feed their ego. How about you take some of the time you spend on the game and do something productive like chores. In the end it just makes the game less enjoyable when you have these unbeatable people running around massacring everything. And no, your 1 in a million pair of legendary shoes will not get you a girlfriend in real life – so why bother?
4. Trolls
Trolls do exactly what their name says – they troll looking for whatever victim they can find to annoy. These trolls browse through chat looking to start drama. Doesn’t matter if you’re talking about another game, music or celebrities they will push your buttons. To make things even better not only will you find trolls in game, but you’ll find them in forums too! Go back to your caves trolls.
5. Gold Sellers
Last, but not least is the never ending wave of advertising spammers. You see them in game, in chat and everywhere, but even the hundreds of admins can’t seem to solve this problem. For example, the moment you post “Need Tank for Raid” it’s instantly pushed off by, “Selling Gold! Only $10 per Million!”. Add in all the colorful text and overused smileys they put into it, and you get the perfect concoction for annoying.
Although these all may be irritating moments millions of people still enjoy the gameplay (including myself). My advice on avoiding these problems would be to block anyone you don’t want to listen to, keep clear of areas where “elite players” roam and try to be patient with your team mates. Can’t let a few things ruin your game!
MMO
Wow, I just found this thread while exploring the site. While all those things have been known to make me "nerd rage" the one that really dives me crazy are n00bs... No I am not talking about newbies, like new players. I'm talking about n00bs who have no idea what they're talking about but insist on always being right.
I was playing WoW one day and I was leveling an alt. I queued up in the dungeon finder. I got a group and we were just about to start UK, when the tank made a snide remark. The conversation between him and I is as follows:
(Before even starting the instance)
Tank: Well this is useless, what do we need 2 priests for? We need another DPS!
Me: Um, one of them is probably a shadow priest... Since they did que as DPS...
Tank: Priests can't DPS they don't have a tree for it!
Me: Hmm... I suppose the shadow tree is just a figment of my imagination then, or maybe blizzard found it necessary to give them a tree they couldn't use and was just there for aesthetic purposes.
Tank: You're a nub.
Me: Yes, yes I am. <Votes to kick tank>
That, is by far, one of the most common and ANNOYING MMO moments.
