Infernal LAN Survey

Why yes, I’ve done it again. I’ve fed my LAN party craving, and this time it lead me to Dupont, WA. Intel’s Infernalan is a mid sized LAN party that is done with one goal in mind – charity. This isn’t just because Thanksgiving is around the corner either. They’ve been giving 100% of the proceeds to charity for years. Go Intel!

Instead of doing just a recap review, I sprouted yet another genius idea! With over 300 eligible people to talk to, why not get into the mind of a gamer? How do they compare to non-gamers when it comes to food, health and all that other good stuff. Sadly I didn’t get around to talking to all 300 attendees, but I did survey 45 random gamers, both male and female, to see what they had to say.

Here’s what I asked:

When you first get on your computer what do you usually do first?

Browse the web (which includes checking email) – 25

What surprised me was more people cared about the health of their computer than themselves. Ha! Now that’s what you call a true gamer. All-in-all, the party was a huge success! It was like a giant slumber party only with lots of guys, games and body odor. I think I’ve finally adapted to the smell though. Plus, Intel even agreed to match whatever amount of money the LAN brought in giving twice as much towards the charity fund. Oh, and note to self – Next time bring a sleeping bag because sleeping on the floor kills.
