Second Life ACS Relay for Life Success!

By GG-Joylia 1 year ago • 0 Comments

Whether you are young or old, cancer affects so many people every single day. It is a heart wrenching experience for both cancer patients and their friends and families. That is why the American Cancer Society works hard to raise funds for research in the fight against cancer. Finding a cure means one less father, mother, aunt, uncle, sister, brother, and friend will be lost to this terrible disease. Second Life is and always has been a great supporter of the cause and for the past 5 years, has joined forces with the American Cancer Society in order to raise funds for the Relay for Life.

Although the event officially closed July 19th, donations are still coming in and so far, the count totals over $270,000 (US). Various sims hosted a number of auctions and other events in order to encourage and allow the residents of Second Life to show their support. Some of the great attractions in Second Life during this was a space station from the survivor’s moon camp, The Shire, Tranquility beach, and there was even a sim that was set up to allow residents to cycle around the recreated Tour de France!

Much thanks and love goes out to the entire ACS team that made it all possible, as well as the many volunteers and contributors. Without their devotion and dedication, none of this would be possible. If you are interested in helping out in next year’s campaign, which runs from March through July, please join SL’s RFL Volunteer group.

Once again, cancer is a horrible thing to go through yourself, as well as to watch someone close to you suffering through it. Support cancer research and help fight to find the cure.
