Nathan Drake Is On His Way!

Craving more Drake? I know many fans are, so don’t get to thinking you’re some eerily, obsessive fan who would rather be playing Uncharted more-so than walking your puppy just yet. Instead, I ask you to hold off on this incessant, though highly understandable craving because I’m just one girl and I can’t possibly shield myself from all the drool. Seriously guys, I’ve seen Bulldogs salivate much less than some of you naughty fan-girls. I keed, of course, but I’ll give Naughty Dog some props for introducing me to one of the coolest protagonists ever created…

All or hopefully most of us have had the pleasure of kicking serious ass in this awesome Action-Adventure title exclusively for the PS3. Uncharted follows Mr. Nathan Drake on an neat, little treasure hunt. Okay, there’s more to it than that, but I’ll try not to bore you by telling you the equation comprises of lush jungles, guns, pirates, and things of that nature. Er, moving on. To the knowledge of all you up-to-date Uncharted worshipers, Bruce Stanley, game director of “Uncharted 2: Among Thieves,” has insinuated that players will be more engaged in game play than ever before, claiming that the sequel will involve updated elements quite similar to that of stealth-action title Assassin’s Creed. According to Stanley, we’ll notice upgraded artificial intelligence, exciting game mechanics and an improved environment. If you thought the environment in Drake’s Fortune was pretty damned good, this game is intended to blow your tighty-whiteys off:“Naughty Dog is aiming to maximize the utilization of the Cell’s SPUs, as their estimates for utilization in the first Uncharted were around 30%. As a result, the game is expected to have more realistic environments and animations.” So, until November hits, I’ll be anxiously biting my nails for Uncharted 2: Among Thieves. Luckily for you and I, there happens to be a little solace for our grave anxiety attacks.

My job is purely to enlighten you on the coming goodness that is Uncharted and everything in and around it. Ask yourself, what is it that screenwriter Kyle Ward is currently doing with his life? Well, that’s none of your business, but it does start with “mov” and end with “ie” and just in case you haven’t picked-up my clever, little teaser, Ward does have well-known producers Avi Arad and TDK’s Charles Roven producing this movie. Oops. There, I said it. That’s right! An Uncharted movie! Guess who’s behind—what’s that? Sony you say? Ding ding! Columbia Pictures will stand behind this title and hopefully drown us in cinematic splendor. I guess this could be my cue to be a real downer and it usually is because I’m biased and refuse the thought of putting “video-game” and “movie” in the same sentence. I’ll let this one go for now, though and who knows, perhaps it’ll make a smooth transition? There is still no information albeit a good deal of speculation on who may be taking on this role.

Now, go walk your puppy.

They're buying up the movie rights for every video game that sells more than 10 copies these days...unfortunately many of them get shelved *sob*Halo*sob* but that makes total sense for Columbia to take it on themselves. Saves them money and if they shelve it, they don't lose money on the deal, either. For you drooling girls, though, I hope they do a good job. ;-)
