What better way to celebrate Halloween than to immerse yourself in an open world zombie survival game? Hammerpoint Interactive’s much anticipated The War Z for PC can now be pre-ordered, and buying it early gains access to the alpha or beta depending on the purchase option you choose. Here’s the lowdown:
Price: $19.49 USD through October 20th, 2012 ($29.99 USD thereafter)
Game Access: October 31st, 2012
Price: $29.99 USD through October 20th, 2012 ($49.99 USD thereafter)
Game Access: October 15th, 2012 (special early Alpha access)
Bonuses: The package includes $15 of in-game currency, special forum badge identifying player as an early, pioneer community member, and one-month of “Stronghold” map server hosting to create a unique world within the game.
According to the game’s official website, The War Z will be a single-purchase download and no payment is required beyond that in order to play. Certain items will still be available for purchase in-game, however.
The War Z is a blend of MMO, shooter, survival horror, and simulation in a world where nearly the entire human population has been wiped out from – you guessed it – a massive viral outbreak. The remaining survivors (players) must fight through hordes of zombies to gather food, weapons, and other items necessary for survival.
It will be interesting to see what Hammerpoint Interactive brings us in just a few short weeks. Even though the back story is the same tale we’ve heard a million times before, the opportunity for players to create their own experience in an open world sounds like a fresh take on the whole zombie craze.
