If you identified more with Gay Tony than Niko Bellic, then here’s a story for you. A group of geeky LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bi-Sexual & Transgender) decided it was time they had their own Con and have started their own Kickstarter to make it a reality.

GaymerCon, tentatively scheduled for August 3rd and 4th 2013 in (where else) San Francisco, will cater to the LGBT geeks and gamers out there.

“The goal of GaymerCon is to create a space where geek identified LGBT people can come together and build community” said Benjamin Williams, Director of PR for the Con. “With the growing amount of queer content in video game titles and the reaction to that content, as well as the larger discussion of gay rights in our culture, GaymerCon is more important and relevant than ever.”

The project is garnering attention, both positive and negative; and not just from the usual YouTube haters. Some feel that such a Con is just segregating the LGBT community further, while others are showing overwhelming support at the idea and feel that it is long overdue.

In a very short amount of time, they’ve already raised nearly $20,000 as of this posting. It’s pretty safe to say that love it, hate it or couldn’t care less, GaymerCon will be a go next year. To support GaymerCon or to learn more, head on over to their official KickStarter page.
