E3 '12 - Halo 4 Trailer and Predictions

Opening this morning’s XBox press conference was an exciting, extended look inside Halo 4:

Now that you’re bouncing up and and down, allow me to offer my predictions, and PLEASE share your own below!

Here’s a little history lesson for you, courtesy of Wikipedia:

Forerunner AI, 05-032 Mendicant Bias was the Contender-class Forerunner A.I. charged with organizing Forerunner defense against the Flood. It was later defected by Gravemind turning it rampant and against the Forerunners, but was eventually defeated after the firing of the Halo array and broken into sections, one of which was taken to the Ark, while another was left on the Forerunner ship that would eventually be incorporated into the Covenant city of High Charity. It is this section of Mendicant Bias that informs the Covenant Hierarchs of the human’s descendance from the Forerunners in Halo: Contact Harvest, prompting the Hierarchs to usurp the Covenant leadership and instigate the Human-Covenant War.

Mendicant Bias is first encountered in Halo 3 on the Ark, as it attempted to communicate with the Master Chief through Terminals, claiming it sought atonement for its defection to the Flood by helping the Spartan,[86] and was presumably destroyed along with the Ark when the Chief activated the incomplete Halo that the Ark was constructing.

Could this new threat, calling Master Chief the Reclaimer, be Mendicant Bias or SOMETHING WORSE? The Forerunner weapons certainly suggest this, and his destruction was never confirmed. Hmmm…

Cortana is definitely going bonkers. Poor thing is beyond her life cycle and according to the books, the AI make themselves crazy trying to rewrite themselves and extend their lives, essentially speeding up the deterioration. As Dr. Halsey’s death was never confirmed when Reach was destroyed, I’m wondering if she is on the UNSC Infinity and can help Cortana in any way. She is, after all, the one who created Cortana cloned from her own brain.
