Until it gets an official name, we reporters refer to it as the “720” – and although many of its specs remain official “rumors,” common sense tells us that certain moves would be more successful than others. For example:

With all the anti-piracy hubbub going on, it’s no wonder that publishers would want to protect their interest. That’s understandable, but preventing the use of previously owned games threatens free commerce. It’s no secret that the sale of used video games is big business and provides companies like GameStop steady revenue. From the consumer’s point of view, however, the ability to purchase a desired game at a lower cost has often determined whether we can play it or not. Furthermore, being able to unload unwanted games for new ones keeps the games out of landfills or storage units.
How could Microsoft do this? No…seriously, HOW could they do this? One guess is that they could link your game directly to a specific XBox LIVE account, but you would could keep your system offline. My guess? Publishers might have to implement some sort of code that can be activated, much like PlayStation’s online pass. The thing is, you could only activate it once. Problem is, you can’t take your game to your friend’s house or even give it away as a gift. Off to the landmine or shooting range we go.
Rumors (and that’s all they are at this point) say that the XBox “720” could be up to 6 or 8x as powerful as the 360, featuring a GPU from AMD’S 6000 series. If it does incorporate a Blu-Ray player, that would increase game disc capacity to 25 or 50GB of data compared to DVD’s 9GB. The new Kinect is said to contain its own processor, which would improve its body tracking capability.

I don't see how realistically they can do this. Unless, like you said the gamer's account keeps track of everything, but what if they want to play at a friends house, will they have to redownload the game off their account? They won't be able to just bring a disk over? And secondly, if they did that, they would receive no support from Gamestop, killing a majority of their sales. 70% of the games we sell at Gamestop are used... so they would be idiots to even try to do this. Argggh!! Even just the thought of the rumor bugs me.
This sounds very complicated and used-games have always a 100% garantee ,, I've never had issues with a few I've bought once so Sony better not pull this **** on Playstation :P,, but they probably won't if this rumor about Xbox is true.

3 weeks, 4 days agoThis is easily one of the worst ideas that I have ever heard. I would assume that there would be some sort of code on the disk that makes it so that if the game hasn't been played on the Xbox, it can be played once, and then the Xbox must have memory related to the game in order for it to be played. Anyways, I would just like to see the game load up faster. After playing many games with extremely long loading screens, it can drive you insane. You feel like you spend half of the game loading.
