GirlGamer at SXSW 2009!

The GirlGamer crew will be at SXSW aka South by Southwest, this coming week March 12th – 18th in Austin, Texas. If you’ve never heard of SXSW then you’ve been missing out. The whole event runs March 13th – 22nd and is broken up into 3 components. A film, a music and an interactive component. During the week the little city of Austin is overrun by the trendsetters in each of the areas. If you want to know what’s going to be hot in the coming year for film, music, or anything having to do with the web then you don’t want to miss this event. Let’s just put it this way: Twitter was the belle of the ball back in 2007. Our friend @alexiatsotsis from @laweekly wrote up a great little primer on all that’s going on during the SXSWi (the interactive) portion of SXSW find it here. GirlGamer will be doing a quite a few exciting things this year at SXSW including:

The GirlGamer Rock Band RVIP Mobile Launch Party

Friday the 13th, we’ll be rockin’ out across town with the RVIPlounge, hitting up the best SX parties and playing Rock Band on the sides of buildings in the streets. It’ll be a crazy night to celebrate our public beta launch, so if you’re in town, join us for free drinks, swag, and Rock Band fun. Follow our twitter to track us as we tear up downtown Austin.

Scheduled Stops: Around 7:45pm at the Austin Convention Center, 8:15pm at the AMODA Party, 10:15pm at the Techset Party @ The Belmont.

The GirlGamer Screenburn Arcade Booth

The Screenburn Arcade is the gaming part of SXSW and is open to the pubic for free on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. This year we are teaming up with NVIDIA to showcase the latest games and tech. Come by and meet the team, play some games in 3D, and grab some swag. Its gonna be awesome.

SXSW Panel: Girl Gaming Goes Mainstream

Don’t forget to attend our Girl Gaming Goes Mainstream: Cliches, Reality, and Community panel on Monday March 16th at 5pm in room 12AB in the convention center. We have top women from the girl gamer community joining us for a panel on what makes the community rock, including Amber Dalton from PMS Clan, Jessica Villarreal from All Games/Girls Got Game, and Trina from GamingAngels.com!
