Spore Creatures for DS

Spore Creatures

DS• Simulation released Sept. 7, 2008.

Will Wright’s hit game, Spore, delivers exactly what people expect out of anything Wright designs: a fully developed and sophisticated simulation game. Spore Creatures, the spin-off game for the DS, is not fully developed, not sophisticated, nor really a simulation game. Not that it’s necessarily a bad thing. But if you were under the impression that Spore Creatures was a less complex but proportionately modified version of Spore for the DS, think again.

Create your very own custom creatures from the start of their existence. Watch them grow and evolve as they explore your world and solve puzzles to advance. While touring these new lands collect other creatures, parts, powerful Bio-Powers, make new friends, or fight with other creatures. Use the Nintendo DS wi-fi capability, connect and show off your creations with other players.

By GG-Alyx on Sept. 29, 2008.

7.0 Controls Versatile, but the stylus could be more accurate.
7.2 Sound Less than memorable soundtrack reminiscent of a classic Atari game.
7.0 Gameplay Appropriate for a game marketed to a wider audience than the game’s namesake.
6.0 Online Factor Limited. There’s nothing truly unique added with this feature.
7.5 Visuals Cute appropriate graphics.
5.0 Replay Value Decently fun once, but not likely a game played time and time again.
7.2 Overall Evolving to fit dual screens has ups and downs.
