Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light is a brand new Lara Croft experience in which players take control of Lara and her unlikely ally, Totec, in an isometric adventure through beautiful landscapes, hazardous puzzles and boss battles on a grand scale. Using Crystal Dynamics’ proprietary gaming engine, Guardian of Light offers both single and cooperative play, as well as new additions to Lara’s arsenal such as the ever-handy grapple hook and Totec’s spears.
After years of travelling the world, hunting down some of the world’s most treasured and lost relics, Lara Croft has come across hundreds of leads towards other artifacts. She’s compiled these leads, stories and facts in a journal and the time has finally come to track down these illusive objects of desire.
The game begins with Lara discovering the lost Temple of Light, a resting place for an ancient artifact called the Mirror of Smoke. When she finally reaches the mirror, she is ambushed by an army led by a devious mercenary named Vasco. Vasco steals the mirror and releases Xolotl, an evil entity imprisoned in the mirror. Xolotl proceeds to kill Vasco and escapes with the Mirror of Smoke. Totec, The Guardian of Light, is awakened by the incident and confronts Lara, explaining the evil that has just been unleashed. With this, Totec and Lara must join forces to track down Xolotl, defeat him and retrieve the mirror before the world is plunged into a never-ending age of darkness.

Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light is a surprisingly fun addition to our tomb raiding adventures. The isometric camera angle works well with the layout of levels, while co-op brings back memories of afternoons at the arcade. Those who are self-competitive will love the fact that you can revisit levels to find items you missed, beat your time, etc. A few item names and quirks raise eyebrows from time to time, but overall an enjoyable arcade-style experience. VERY good mix of action and puzzles. A must play!
When Tomb Raider made its debut in 1996, gamers were exposed to an all-new level of adventure, action and puzzle-solving. Oh, yeah – and a hot-bodied brunette in booty shorts. Even from a female gamer standpoint, watching Lara Croft’s graceful movements, combined with breath-taking environments makes for the Tomb Raider experience. So when Crystal Dynamics announced an isometric camera angle and co-op, fans were understandably nervous.
Well, I’m here to tell you it’s more than okay, and here’s why…
