Dementium II is a horror/suspense title that unfolds as a first person shooter, err stabber, and contains some intriguing elements of gore and psychosis. The game contains a nostalgic quality with the controls used on this portable system which are easy to pick up and one can not help but want more; more weapons, more variety and a slightly more imaginative story.

Welcome to Bright Dawn Treatment Center. In Dementium II for the DS you find yourself, William, awaking from a significant surgical coma into the caring arms of the staff at Bright Dawn. This is about as far as the story will make sense unless you play through the game to periodically collect pieces of the story which comes together at the end. The story behind your stay at Bright Dawn and the events surrounding the suspect ‘Treatment Center’ unfold in small clips and clues throughout the game; causing you to question and predict the direction with each new clue. Playing through the story at times seems choppy as you jump to and from locations and there is a portion of repetition that occurs due to the need to revisit areas in order to progress. The confusion created by these small unfavorable elements paralleled kindly to the overall confusion that William himself is experiencing.

To make your way through the game, you will use the stylus to control your camera view, control pad for movements, and the L button to slash your shank or fire your weapon. The top screen of the DS is your action screen while the map and inventory menu reside in your lower screen along with your jump and crouch buttons. The controls lend well to this style of gameplay on the DS and allow for ease in attack and search.

The environments and visuals are dark, gritty and all the things you would expect from the follow-up to Dementium: The Ward with blood-soaked passages, uncomfortably gory enemies and disturbing cut scenes.

The graphic elements of Dementium II add to the overall atmosphere of the game which is C for creepy.
