Inspired by the real Dante Alighieri, but adapted for a new generation and a new medium, the hero of the game is a soldier who defies death and fights for love against impossible odds. The Italian mercenary Dante returns home from the wars to find that his beloved Beatrice has been murdered, and her soul pulled down into Hell by a dark force. He gives chase, and vows to get her back. For weapons, he wields Death’s soul-reaping scythe, and commands holy powers of the cross, given to him by Beatrice.

All in all, Dante’s Inferno has a great story and leaves you wanting to know more. The combat system, although simple, become repetitive and therefore a little boring once you near the game’s end. Expect the fights with lesser demons to be quite short; in fact, your scythe and cross attacks will be doing more damage and making non-boss fights really short. The eerie music will give you chills as you descend deeper and deeper into Hell. Other than the puzzles you must solve along the way, there are annoying aspects like wailing and screaming souls to give you a headache. The game is a fun play with a great story. There are flaws, but they don’t outweigh the fun aspects of the game, itself.
If you’re not familiar with the story of the Divine Comedy by Dante Alighieri, you’ve no doubt heard some reference to it in many ways like the movie Se7en. The Divine Comedy is basically the story of Dante who travels down into Hell and observes its many circles; each containing a different sin. Visceral Games and Electronic Arts have made this epic poem their own story; so if you’ve read it, this game is not the story you know. Just enjoy the carnage.

So...if you remember, a couple weeks ago I attended the Dante's Inferno launch party and pretty much said it was 'No Es Bueno' (see article titled "Dante's Inferno Launch Party (or "The 10th Circle of Hell/How NOT To Throw A Launch Party"). Well, guess what? Someone from EA got a hold of me and now you're going to enjoy the benefits. Read More
