If you haven’t heard you can now download the multiplayer demo for Bionic Commando on Xbox360 (xbox live gold members only).
We here at GirlGamer have been seeing this game around for almost a year now and have had the chance to have some hands on with it at various stages.
Every time we’ve been able to play some of the game we have been quite impressed. The ability to swing from almost any object in the game adds a new dimension to multiplayer action as well as opens up some intriguing aspects of gameplay that will be apparent in the campaign mode. Watch this in game footage.
The drawbacks to the multiplayer demo are the shortness of the rounds, the limited map to play, and the lack of the ability to play with friends. Though all of this is overlooked as a solid demo is unleashed to the masses prior to the release of the game.
It is a fast paced level that suits the 8 player maximum, yet allowing ample space to swing and dive from pipes and buildings upon unsuspecting prey below.
The weapons featured on the level give a nice taste of what to expect in the game. A pistol (starting weapon), a shotgun, a sniper rifle, a machine gun and the ever popular grenade launcher. It is imperative that you have something more than just a standard pistol if you hope to survive, the weapons have very limited ammo, so every shot counts. The weapons have a decent respawn time, so we are never far away from an upgrade if you miss an opportunity to grab a new weapon. Though a well timed punch can be an instant frag.
Movement is your best bet, both in the air and on the ground. Being able to dodge an attack or quickly use your arm to evade an attack is an essential skill. You can also use your arm to grab other opponents and bring them closer.
The greatest tip that one can learn is (and you can thank us later) using your arm to pick up weapons and armor. Most players seem to not have figured this out yet. The instinct is to just run over the weapon to pick it up. If you slow down enough to point your arm over the weapon you will find that the cursor changes from blue to yellow, activate your arm at get a leg up on the competition. Many times a weapon was scooped up from right in front of an opponent only to leave them confused and dead.
The download is free and worth getting some practice in before the May 19th release date.
