MLG Crowns 2011 Champs, Pays over $600,000

The best gamers in the world gathered in Providence, Rhode Island this past weekend for the Pro Circuit National Championships. Hosted by Major League Gaming (MLG), prizes for the competition totaled more than $600,000.

After an intense, three-day, double-elimination challenge, the following gamers and teams arose victorious:

StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty on PC

1st Place – Lee Dong Nyung (FXOLeenock) – this 16-year-old player from Korea took home bragging rights and $50,000!

2nd Place – Naniwa from Sweden

3rd Place – DongRaeGu, also from Korea.

Call of Duty: Black Ops on PlayStation 3

1st Place – Team Quantic Next Threat including players Vengeance, Mutation, Virus and Censor took home the 1st Place prize of $50,000.

2nd Place – Team Eon Envy

3rd Place – Optic Gaming

Halo: Reach on Xbox 360

Taking home a whopping $100,000!

1st Place – Team Instinct including players Roy, Lunchbox, Pistola and Ogre 2 (who secured a record 5th National Championship)

2nd Place – Team Warriors

3rd Place – Believe the Hype.

League of Legends on PC

1st Place – Taking home $15,000, Team SoloMid took the lead and comprised of players ReginaId, TheOddOne, TheRainMan, Xpecial, and Chaox.

This, the most successful Pro Circuit Championship tournament to date, offered the largest prize purse of over 1 million dollars over this year alone. Millions watched the action live through the MLG website, making it the most watched season in MLG history.
