Sure we've all played games that we were disappointed in, but have you ever played any that you were pleasantly surprised by?

There were a lot of games like that for me when I was a kid. My brother came to visit a few times and he'd rent a ton of games while he was here. I was always thinking, "I can't believe he got THAT!" and ended up buying some of those games.

Which titles surprised you and what made you change your mind about them?

Id have to agree with the WoW issue. I started a toon way back in 05 and just gave up on it at lvl 10. I was into FPS a lot and really couldnt get that into wow. Once I actually started playing it for real I became an addict like the rest of the WoW population. I love how they are always creating new content and the game is ever evolving. The only thing I do not like is the lvl caps every stinking expansion. Can we please do something else. Im sure we will eventually hit lvl 250! But please please that is complete torture!

Katamari Damacy, for sure. When I heard about it, I was like: "That game sounds so stupid." Then I saw the graphics and immediately denounced it. /Then/ I played it and I was addicted.

Oh my gosh, well..

I had really anti-Kingdom Hearts for the longest time. I thought the idea of putting characters from America into a Japanese game was going to be awful, and that the characters all looked lame...

But one day, I decided to give it a try amongst reviews from my friends, and boyyy was I wrong...

I immediately was hooked to the game and loved even the most frustrating of levels. (Monstro? BLEH) I loved the characters, the story, and mostly the battle system. I was very wrong of the "lameness insertion of Disney Characters", as well. I love Disney, and the cross-over couldn't have been more perfect. SOOO AMAZING!

Now I do KH cosplay, I rush to getting the merch.. no regrets on ever swallowing my pride to play this one. : )

"...Kingdom Hearts..."

That is a very good example. I have to admit, and this is embarrassing, but the only reason I wanted to play it when it came out was "the guy in the trailer was hot" (hey I was like 13 or 14!). But I HATED Disney and I thought the game would ultimately suck. Since playing it the series has become one of my favourites and I've actually started to like Disney. I've started rewatching all the old movies from when I was a kid and realizing they aren't just "dumb kiddy movies". I find new things in them that I didn't *get* back then.

So I guess I found a game that I thought would sick, loved it, and it made me change my mind about an entire other genre of medium. That's pretty big.

In all honesty, I wasn't too keen on Hellgate London.

Back in 2007, I was very into Granado Espada - and Hellgate London was promoted in the loading screens for GE - since they're from the same publisher (something to that effect). Whatever it was, I wasn't keen on Hellgate since I thought it was just another "killing" game.

Anyways, I finally got a laptop that could run the game - and picked up the game on a whim in late March. And now I am obsessed with the game.

Also .. Pokemon.

When the game first came out, I got pissed off at the hype. Then I got bored and borrowed my sister's Gameboy Colour and played Pokemon Yellow on it. And got hooked.

And now ..

*looks on NDS on the bed with Pokemon Platinum*

Yeah I got obsessed.
