I freakin loved the Avengers!! I've been waiting forever for the movie to finally come out and I was not disappointed! So awesome and badass!! I was very pleasantly surprised that the women were not hyper sexualized, and to me that makes the movie even better. Plus, I'm up for any movie that involves aliens trying to take over Earth and us kicking their asses.

I watched every movie that came out before the avengers. Iron Man 1&2, The Incredible Hulk, Captain America, and Thor. I was happily surprised that Mark Ruffalo made an excellent Bruce Banner, even though I was disappointed that Edward Norton was let go.

I'll even admit, I don't usually think such things, but DAMN did the men look good. Hell, the women looked good lol!

I really think things that have in the past been considered or geared towards guys are just becoming more equalized as people grow up in a less male dominant society all together. I don't really like marvel or marvel heroes though, not a big fan of this movie. But my dislike goes back past the movies haha.

Holy effing balls this movie was FAN-FREAK'N-TASTIC! I really enjoyed this film and yeah, it was nice not seeing boobies flashed on the screen. I get it when they are there, but nice when it's just a movie to be enjoyed for the story, characters, and humor.

Joss Wheeden did a great job as well as all of the actors. I've always been into Marvel comics since I was a young kid so this was like my childhood dreams coming true ;) Unless they make a Halo movie that's as badass than this is the top.

Also, I agree with Echo that Thor, and the Cap were sure look'n fine ;) Thor is one tall glass of water lol. Actually he's in Cabin in the Woods as well, which I just saw today.

It's interesting how girls are still considered an alien species when it comes to marketing anything.

The Avengers was an awesome movie! I am not a comic book geek, but I do have a general understanding of all the characters. Great movie for the masses, and it even has a strong female character! Scarlett Johansson did a great job. Not to mention she's hot!

I have been debating lately with friends on why there are so many male dominate characters in these films, and why hasn't there been a female lead superhero movie to balance this male dominated genre.. Wonder Woman always comes to mind. Is it that they can't sell the character, or is there no strong female actress who can carry the role as a movie lead?

I continue to wonder..

I haven't seen the movie yet but really hope to soon! I was disappointed though that Scarlet Johannsen's character the Black Widow was only shown in like one of the previews...even though there are SOOO many trailers and previews everywhere and so many marketing ploys they're using. I'm glad to hear from some of you that there wasn't over-sexualization though, that always ruins a movie for me. I always try to look for strong female characters to look up to and it doesn't exactly work when she's just portrayed as a sex partner for the male hero.

I totally agree with you 100% that there needs to be more female super hero movies. Why hasn't there been a Wonder Woman movie? She was one of the original superheroes, and she is a good strong role model for females. Its almost like the issue with females portrayed in video games...our culture seems so against or is not ready for women having a chance to be the hero.

I haven't seen the Avengers yet ether, but the reason I want to see the Avengers is because I just love superhero movies along with and cartoons like young justice. I guess this could be caused by hanging out with my brother as a kid. Also we do need more women playing super heroes,I feel like getting a women to play a super hero will be like when they first realized that women liked video games.

@IvoryRhapsody: There has been a Wonder Woman tv series lately but it was so terrible and it flopped big time. There's talks of a She-Hulk tv series too. I think the problem is that every time someone tries to make a female super hero movie/tv series it turns out pretty crap (Electra and Catwoman also spring to mind >.<). I say let Joss Whedon handle all the lady super hero leads =D

a5hl3yl: You won't be disappointed with Black Widow ^_^

I kinda of agree here but in the whole spectrum of comic companies I think Marvel is doing a much better job than DC in equality... in fact DC have a lot of their problems around Starfire >_> and how they portray their other characters and their backstories. (Not to mention Marvel signed up with Disney, so it's gonna have a wider audience, and some cool Disney ideas!) But while I'm also neither a fan of super hero movies or comics, I did enjoy Iron Man 1 and 2. I'll probably watch this just to see what all the fuss is about! :P
